Today is the last day of the climate change summit, so please check the Oxfam website for news. I will be throughout the day.
Climate change is an important issue and affects all of us. Just imagine, how in a western society we are finding it difficult to cope with the adverse weather conditions at the moment. There's snow and the country grinds to a halt, but at least we are comforted by the fact that we can go home and switch on the heating. If the adverse weather conditions damage our homes/posessions etc we know that yes there will be a finanacial hit but most likely we will get paid again next months and bring ourselves back into a viable financial situation again.
In developing countries this is not the case. Most livelihoods are via agriculture etc. If floods/drought destroy crops...that's it...those people will suffer for months/years and in some cases decades on end. They don't have plush office jobs and salaries. The west produces the most carbon output yet it is developing countries that are most affected. How is this fair at all? So please take action today, you can make a difference.
