How I got involved in Campaigning

Ever since I was a child I have always wanted to help people, especially people who are suffering as a result of poverty or at the hands of Governments across the world. Up until I started University I never really knew how to get involved apart from giving money to charities.

Towards the end of my first year at University The US and UK decided to go to war with Iraq, so we held a demonstration against this. I helped in canvassing with leaflets, we had a'Walkout for Peace' protest where we walked out of our lectures and marched around campus and into city centre. I think the two most memomrable events that day were when someone climbed the clock tower to hang a 'peace' banner and when we held up an army truck on Bristol Rd.
